also Milan Kundera has some perceptive things to say on the subject. but he's a bastard.
I think I learned how to be a man from Heathcliff. of course, I didn't read wuthering heights until I was 18.
I'm not a man, obviously. Yet I can sympathize with that bastard from wherever it is I am now.
How to be a girl I guess I learned from a number of anime programs.
